Curacao
highlights
When you think of Curaçao, you think of white beaches and blue seas. But Curaçao has much more to offer. It is an extremely diversified island, offering a very high standard of living. Add in the year-round pleasant climate, geographic location outside of the hurricane belt and stable economy and you have the perfect island to call your new home.
Diving and snorkeling
Curaçao is a world-famous dive and snorkel destination. With crystal-clear waters, year-round pleasant temperatures and a rich marine life, the attraction of the underwater world is irresistible. The professional and reputable dive and snorkel operators on the island offer both boat diving and shore trips, and there is an abundance of spots to choose from. One of Curaçao’s most beautiful coral reefs is located directly adjacent to Mambo Beach.
Yachting
Cruising the blue sea with its endless views makes a perfect day. Klein Curaçao is a great destination for snorkeling. Sunset drinks on your yacht will make this experience unforgettable. Chartering a boat can be easily organized and the marina facilities on the island are top-notch.
Nature
Curaçao is proud of its many National Parks for a reason. Christoffelpark is home to splendid indigenous flora and fauna and offers many hiking trails. In Shete Boka National Park, the waves pound against the coral rock formations, with cliff-like coves and natural bridges. Salt is no longer harvested on Curaçao, but in the remaining salt flats or saliñas, like Jan Thiel, hide some unique flora and fauna, and these spots are also habitats for flamingos.
Adventure sports
Explore the natural beauty of Curaçao from the seat of a jeep, buggy or a quad. There are numerous mountain bike and hiking trails to discover and various trails start directly behind Mambo Beach. Hiking and climbing the Christoffelberg is a challenging must-do. Or for something a bit more calm, take an SUP tour, for example, through the mangroves. Even heights can be explored on Curaçao—ever thought of skydiving?
Wellness
It is all about balance in life. The counterpart to all the activities is the excellent wellness services offered on Curaçao. The purest moments of escapism can be found directly on Mambo Beach BLVD at the Blue Maxx Health Club offering the latest treatments and wellness programs that will enhance your health and wellbeing.
Culture and History
The colonial times play an important role in Curaçao’s history and cultural heritage. Curaçao was colonized by the Dutch in the seventeenth century. The mansions (Landhuizen) of the Dutch plantation owners are colorfully renovated, bringing history to life. Other impressive reminders of the colonial times are the several forts on the island, like the famous Fort Amsterdam, built to protect the island against other colonizing countries.
Willemstad
Visiting Willemstad is like walking through history, starting in the seventeenth century. The historic part of the city—the quarters Punda and Otrobanda—is a World UNESCO heritage site. Here you will find the world-famous floating “Pontjes brug” from 1887 and the historic and colorful waterfront of Curaçao, called “Handelskade”. Once, this was the main economic street where commercial vessels would come right up to the store fronts. Today, it is a vibrant waterfront filled with restaurants and cafés.
Dining & Drinking
The traditional cuisine of the island is full of surprises and is well worth exploring. At the same time, the best global cuisines are found in Curacao and on Mambo Beach BLVD. A quick bite at a local “Snek”, a sunset happy hour with surprisingly delicious cocktails, or an exclusive dinner at the beach, it is all served with Caribbean passion.
Nightlife
Curaçao and Mambo Beach bring Caribbean nightlife to the next level. World-renowned events are organized all year round and artists love to come to Curaçao. The casinos and nightclubs offer exciting events and there are small local bars just around the corner. Live music on terraces, Latin dancing on the beach, exclusive pool parties, and sunset happy hours. That is Caribbean nightlife!
